Welcome to DnD Familiar (“the Service”), a tool designed to enhance tabletop storytelling through live transcription, contextual analysis, and narrative assistance for Dungeon Masters and players. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

  1. Overview

DnD Familiar provides real-time transcription, contextual analysis, and narrative tools for role-playing sessions such as Dungeons & Dragons (DnD). The Service captures in-session dialogue and gameplay actions to deliver live insights, summaries, and consistent world context to enhance the storytelling experience.

  1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service independently.

Users under 13 years of age may access the Service only with the verified consent and active supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or Dungeon Master who has obtained consent from the player’s parent or guardian. The supervising adult is responsible for ensuring compliance with these Terms and for managing consent and privacy obligations under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable laws.

By using the Service, you represent that (a) you meet these requirements, and (b) any necessary consents have been obtained for all participants.

  1. User Content and Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you provide or generate during gameplay, including recorded audio, transcriptions, and narrative materials (“User Content”).

By using the Service, you grant Inception Technologies a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, transcribe, and analyze your User Content solely to operate, maintain, and improve the Service.

You are responsible for obtaining consent from all participants before recording or transcribing any session.

  1. Data Processing, Use, and Commercialization

The Service may temporarily store and process session data to provide real-time context and analytical feedback. Recordings, transcripts, and analysis data are handled according to our Privacy Policy.


  • By using the Service, you grant Inception Technologies the right to:
    Collect, process, and analyze session data (including audio, transcripts, and gameplay metadata);

  • Operate and improve the Service and develop new features or models;

  • Conduct research, analytics, and performance testing; and

  • Create and license aggregated, anonymized datasets or insights derived from gameplay activity.

Inception Technologies may commercialize or share such aggregated, de-identified data with third parties (e.g., for analytics, research, or game design innovation) only in a form that cannot reasonably identify individual users or campaigns.

We will never sell or share personal, identifiable data (such as audio recordings, player names, or transcripts) without explicit consent.

  1. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Record or transcribe individuals without their knowledge or consent;

  • Use the Service for any illegal, defamatory, or discriminatory purpose;

  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or other users’ experiences;

  • Attempt to reverse engineer, extract datasets, or resell outputs from the Service.


Violation of this section may result in suspension or termination of your account.

  1. Intellectual Property

All trademarks, software, algorithms, and Service components remain the property of Inception Technologies. You may not copy, distribute, or modify any part of the Service without prior written permission. Generated summaries, transcripts, and contextual insights may incorporate automated analysis. These outputs are provided “as is” and are not guaranteed to be accurate or exhaustive.

  1. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose. You acknowledge that contextual outputs may include errors or inconsistencies due to automated processing.

  1. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Inception Technologies and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the fees paid by you in the past six months or (b) fifty dollars ($50).

  1. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or misuse the Service.

Upon termination, your access will cease, but you may request a copy or deletion of your session data per our Privacy Policy.

  1. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or email. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be handled exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
